Message of Greeting by the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit

The Bewag BERLIN HALF-MARATHON has undergone an incredible development in the last few years. By now there are far more than 15,000 runners who set out on the course to win the race against the clock.

The HALF-MARATHON has firmly established itself in Berlins sports life. The international family of runners has long since marked this event in their calendar and makes sure that Berlin presents itself in a particularly colorful and open way on this day.

And so runners and in-line skaters, wheelchair users and power walkers will once again shape the citys face. They are all cheered on by an enthusiastic audience and will test out completely new limits.

As always, I would like to particularly thank the busy organizers and volunteers. I wish the athletes every success and hope that this event will be an exciting race for the spectators and an unforgettable sports highlight for Berlin.

Yours sincerely
Klaus Wowereit
Governing mayor of the city of Berlin
