IAAF.org: Zurich delights again - El Guerrouj back in form but beaten by Lagat

Three world season leading performances and another 2004 best equalled were the statistical highs, though the drama of a two man 3:27 duel in the 1500m, which accounted for one of those top marks, was the pinnacle of the Weltklasse Zurich 2004 – TDK Golden League – meeting in the Letzigrund Stadium tonight. At the end Hicham El Guerrouj was beaten by Bernard Lagat.

Five contenders for the TDK Golden League Jackpot began this meeting but with the surprising defeat of Virgiljius Alekna in the men’s Discus, only four remain in contention for at least a share of the one million dollar prize which is awarded to any athlete who can win their discipline at all six meets in the series.
