Tirunesh Dibaba aiming to double at World Championships

Tirunesh Dibaba the reigning IAAF World 5000 metres champion plans doubling-up at this year's Championships in Helsinki. Dibaba when only 18 years 90 days old, was the the youngest-ever individual world champion when winning her gold medal in Paris two years. Now the outstanding Ethiopian is planning not only to retain her title in August, but also challenge for the 10,000 m title.

The winner of both the long and short titles in this year's IAAF World Cross Country Championships, will make her debut over the longer distance in Stockholm on June 28.

Dibaba at the Sollentuna Grand Prix, will clash with Ejegayehu Dibaba her elder sister who was runner-up in the Olympic 10000m final amongst others chasing the qualifying standard of 31minutes 40seconds.

"She will be a nice addition,” said Ulf Saletti the meeting director of the event of Dibaba who in a sensational year, has broken the world indoor 5000m record and equalled the 5K road running record.

The Sollentuna Grand Prix is part of a five-race summer series, the Folksam Grand Prix, that has been staged for the past two decades in Sweden.
