Countdown: Day 38 - thousands of helping hands under one roof - the Volunteer Club
The volunteer program is a masterpiece of logistics, which is almost fully organized online. Having more than 4,000 volunteers for BMW BERLIN MARATHON, every single volunteer knows what to do. This is only possible with an enourmous infrastructure behind the scenes. Several team coordinators are assembled in a department and each department has a head of department. Those persons are in liaison with the Volunteer Manager at SCC EVENTS the whole year around. During a specific period, usually starting in June, volunteers can sign up for the marathon using the online registration of the volunteer club.
There is hardly an area that will not be looked after by Volunteers. Whether the race documents distribution, merchandising, the course supply, the coat rack at the start and at the finish, in the medical team, or in the press office - all kind of helping hands are needed in order to make the event to the unforgettable race you will experience.
Each head of department has access to their applicants in the online registration system and can communicate with them. They can prepare working schedules, inform about working responsibilities and pull out volunteer lists. Both, the head of department and the well-rehearsed volunteers brief a new volunteer on site, so that the operational procedures anew each year in the common quality.
The registration deadline for the volunteer application for this year's BMW BERLIN MARATHON is on 07/09/2012.
