42.195 kilometres are a distance long enough. To avoid that any participant of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON has to run even one meter too far, the right distance is marked accurately for the runners. The course is marked by the Blue Line. In total300 metres of fence are to be built up at 14 different critical points. The SCC EVENTS team together with around 800 volunteers is setting up the fences. The structures are especially necessary at spots where participants have to switch the road lane because of traffic reasons, for example at Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Straße.

There is not much time for the construction of fences along the race course. Although they are already distributed in the week prior to the marathon to the 14 critical points by a rental company, they are placed not before September 30^th with the release of the track 45 minutes before the marathon start.
