The Surprise: A live Christmas goose joined in the race

The Christmas surprise was perfect: at the 4th Berlin “Burn off the

Christmas Goose” Run organised by SCC-RUNNING, Santa Claus (Wolfgang

Paech) arrived with a friendly live goose, who was even named

Bernd Hübner invited everyone to join him in his traditional Christmas

holiday recuperation and calorie-burning run through the Grunewald Forest - and

was „overrun“ by participants. 183 runners (last year 95), of which

14 were dressed as Santa, ran their best as three TV...

Singapore Marathon

Three national records in the last six months have helped dispel the reputation

that Constantina Dita built with her crash and burn performance in the world

championship marathon in Edmonton last year. And the Romanian is ready to add

another title to her growing collection in the revamped Singapore Marathon,

sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank on Sunday morning.

At 30k in Edmonton, the Romanian had a two-minute lead on her competitors,

but could only finish tenth, albeit in a personal best of...

Excellent successes for SCC-RUNNING

The running year 2002 showed an increase in participation for almost all races.

The organisers had to "pull the brake" numerous times and set a limit

so that the races could be properly organised. The enthusiasm for running

continues in Berlin, and the organisers can expect further growth next year for

the well-organised races.

The 33rd New York City Marathon

The 33rd New York City Marathon November 3rd, 2002 It is now just one week

before the 2002 New York City Marathon. It seems many years since the events of

9/11 and the Marathon while in reality it is only last year. Last year’s

race was the first citywide event after 9/ll. There were football and baseball

games, but they only had 50-60.000 spectators. The marathon brought out two and

one half million people to celebrate life and our great city. It was a profound

statement aimed at the world that...

ADCOCKS IN ATHENS

Bill Adcocks will be the guest of honour at the Athens Classic Marathon this

weekend, to watch the latest attempt to break the course record of 2.11.07 that

he set on the original marathon course over 33 years ago.

On the face of it, that is one of the most unlikely statistics in world

athletics, that after one World and two European Championships and a World Cup

on the classic Marathon to Athens course in the meantime, the diminutive

Coventry Godiva Harriers time has endured. But Adcocks, who...

work put himself under pressure in his free time, as well. The runner, who was

Takahashi in any de-partment, there will be a new and promising challenger this

time in Mexican runner Adriana Fernandez. Her biggest success so far was...

Pacemakers to guide you through the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON 2002

The best strategy for success in a marathon is „even Steven“. The

pace should be constant through the whole race, so that negative splits are

though, will pose no problem whatsoever in this department: Our course is flat

as a pan.

Still, the marathon organisers from SCC-RUNNING, given the positive
