Women's marathon world records at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023
Tigst Assefa crowned the 49th edition of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2023 with an incredible women's marathon world record of a sensational 2:11:53 hours. In doing so, she beat previous women's best set by Brigid Kosgei of Kenya, who had run a time of 2:14:04 in Chicago in 2019, by 2:11 minutes. We congratulate Tigst Assefa on her fabulous time with sport-historical significance at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023!
Racing wheelchair athlete Catherine Debrunner won the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2023 as the fastest woman in the racing wheelchair competition in 1:34:16 hours. We congratulate Catherine on the sensational result and new marathon world record!

BMW BERLIN MARATHON - a race full of records
A day for the history books. Tigst Assefa ran across the finishing line at the Brandenburg Gate after sensational 2:11:53 hours, setting a fantastic new world record at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Eliud Kipchoge became the record winner of the race. The Kenyan triumphed for the fifth time in Berlin, winning with a world-class time of 2:02:42 hours. Amanal Petros breaks German record.

Women's marathon world record at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023
Tigst Assefa has pulverized the world record at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. The Ethiopian stormed to the finish at the Brandenburg Gate after a sensational 2:11:53 hours and undercut the mark of the Kenyan Brigid Kosgei, who had run a time of 2:14:04 in Chicago in 2019, by 2:11 minutes. The Ethiopian ran a fabulous time in Berlin with sporting historical significance.

BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Outstanding Event with Elite and Mass Sport in Unison
“The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is the biggest event of any kind in Berlin with a direct and indirect financial benefit of around 380 Million Euro,” explained Jürgen Lock, managing director of SCC EVENTS, during Thursday’s press conference. “Over and above that, the engagement and commitment of Berliners should be underlined, they are vital component of the event,” Lock added. The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023 on TV
Of course, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will also be on TV this year. Eurosport 1 will broadcast the marathon from the German capital from 9:00 to 12:00. Even before Eliud Kipchoge and Amos Kipruto set off from the colorful rainbow start gate onto the course, the TV broadcast begins. From 12:00 to 14:30, RBB broadcasts the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023.
Absolute World Class Athletes at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2023
This year's BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will take place on September 24. This major running event is one of the most prestigious marathons in the world. SCC EVENTS as organiser expects more than 45,000 runners from about 150 nations. In addition to the huge field of amateur athletes, the world's top runners will also meet in the German capital to compete.

We mourn the loss of Christoph Kopp
Christoph Kopp was an outstanding contributor to the BERLIN-MARATHON from its beginnings until the end. The Sport-Club Charlottenburg as owner and organizer of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON owes the national and international development of this important sporting event significantly to him. Christoph Kopp passed away after a short serious illness on Friday (28.04.2023). He was 75 years old.
