“Important Documents“ – Mail from the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON

Over the past few days all participants in the 30th real,- BERLIN-MARATHON on

September 27-28, 2003 have received mail with the headline “Important

Documents“ on the envelope. The much sought-after confirmation of

registration with the announcement of the race numbers has now been sent to all

participants in 87 countries. 35,000 runners and 9,000 inline skaters can look

forward to being part of the anniversary marathon in Berlin.

3,432 kilograms of printed paper had to be “moved“ and packed by

the volunteers.

Eight different papers are included in the letter, beginning with the time

plan and supporting programme for the marathon week. Technical details, as well

as information on how the participants can get to the race number distribution

in the fair grounds at the Radio Tower (Funkturm) in halls 21- 23 and how to

use the CHIP, are supplied. Of course, a sketch of the new race course and

information on the start of the Breakfast Run from the Charlottenburg Palace to

the Olympic stadium are presented. The participants are called to run for a

good cause, for the German Agro Action (DWHH) for Ethiopia, by the most

successful German marathon runner, Sonja Oberem. Last year over 35,000 €

were collected by the runners for the DWHH for a selected project in

Afghanistan. The participants will be able to order photos from the official

photo service of the race—and they are informed about the anniversary

publication for the MARATHON.

One can already take a look at the “official event collection“

in the enclosed adidas catalog and then order online at the real,-

BERLIN-MARATHON souvenir shop – or purchase items at the BERLIN VITAL

marathon fair. Not to be forgotten—the race will be broadcast live on

ARD/RBB from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, so tell your friends and family

at home so they can watch the race in Berlin on TV.
