As in most events in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Series (AbbottWMM)*, BMW BERLIN-MARATHON race entries are allocated by lottery. Registration for the lottery of race entries for 2026 will be possible from September 25 until November 6, 2025.
All participants in the lottery (including fast runners with a qualifying time) will automatically receive their result by email at the end of November.
*Except for the Boston Marathon, which has a time and age group classification system.
You can register for the lottery in one of the following three ways. Please note that the selection is binding and your registration cannot be changed afterwards.
Registration
- Each team member needs their own user account.
- When registering, the first person indicates that this is a team registration and chooses a name for the team.
- Once registration is complete, a team code is sent with the registration confirmation.
- This code must be passed on to the other 1-2 team members.
- The other members of the team select “Join an existing team” when registering and enter the code. This code cannot be added later.
- Each team member completes the registration themselves, enters payment details and receives confirmation by e-mail.
Participation
- If the team is drawn in the lottery, all members of the team receive a race entry.
- There is no team ranking. Each person is starts and is listed individually in the results list.
- If a team member is unable to run after the draw, this has no effect on the other members of the team. A subsequent nomination is not possible.
Registration
- To register as a fast runner a proof of the qualification time achieved and a proof of age must be uploaded during the registration process.
- Make sure that all qualification information is visible on your proof.
- Registering as a fast runner is not a guarantee of a race entry. You will only be accepted after your proof has been checked at the end of November 2025.
- In the event of invalid proof, the registration will be considered in the draw for race entries.
Proof
- The qualifying time must have been achieved in an official race that is part of the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings, certified by AIMS or listed by USATF.
- Only official certificates and links to the official results page of the race will be recognized as proof.
- Only marathon times are counted. These must not be older than 2 years (time run in 2024 or 2025).
- Results from other routes or virtual events are not taken into account.
Qualifying times
- Male Runners up to 44 years (born 2008 to 1982): under 2:45 hours
Runners up to 59 years (born 1981 to 1967): under 2:55 hours
Runners 60 years and older (born 1966 and older): under 3:25 hours - Female Runners up to 44 years (born 2008 to 1982) under: 3:10 hours
Female runners up to 59 years (born 1981 to 1967): under 3:30 hours
Female runners over 60 years (born 1966 and older): under 4:20 hours

For participants of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating 2025 who have booked this promotion and succesfully finished, the personal access codes for participation in 2026 will be sent out the 25th of september. This code can be redeemed until November 06, 2025 at 11:59pm (CET).
