Start time:*
12:20 p.m.: Inline skaters
Location:
The start is on Straße des 17. Juni, between the Brandenburg Gate and Kleiner Stern.
*Notes:
The start will take place regardless of weather conditions, unless there is a weather warning from the German Weather Service.
The schedule and route are subject to change.
Course
The skaters complete five laps of a circuit that leads via Ernst-Reuter-Platz and Otto-Suhr-Allee towards Charlottenburg Palace. After a turn, they head back to the ‘Goldelse’ – as Berliners call the Victory Column. From here, the course leads to the grand finale along the usual route section along the Landwehr Canal, Potsdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt and Unter den Linden. And that means pure goosebumps as they ride through the Brandenburg Gate onto the home stretch.
Time limit & cut-off points
- 2:10 hours (from crossing the start line)
Cut-off point 1 at KM 29 at 2:59pm*
Cut-off point 2 at KM 36 um 3:21 pm*
Participants who are slower than the time limit must leave the official course and take the broom bus to the finish area.
Participants who reach the Brandenburg Gate after the time limit cannot cross the finish line for technical reasons, will be taken out of the race and will not be listed in the results. Only participants who skate across the finish line by the finish deadline will receive an official result, a medal, finish line refreshments and a massage.

Lap counter
On the circuit, you are responsible for counting your 5 laps yourself. To help you keep track, you will receive a wristband with a clip at the race material pick up. Move the clip further along the victory column with each lap and, after 5 laps and 35 km, head out onto the final stretch.
The number of laps is checked afterwards via the checkpoint on the circuit. If times are missing, disqualification will follow.
Refreshments
Since it is not easy to supply inline skaters during a marathon, you will receive a water bottle at the Inline Village at the MARATHON EXPO. You will find the corresponding voucher to detach on your bib number.
Please fill your water bottle before the start and stow it in your competition clothing.
There is a refreshment point with drinks and fruit on the circuit.
At the finish line, we will provide you with fruit, water and Erdinger alcohol-free beer.
Rules of conduct
Wearing a helmet is mandatory. You cannot start without a helmet. Additional protective clothing is recommended.
- Keep to the right and let faster skaters pass on the left (as in road traffic).
- Do not skate in groups, but in slipstream to leave room for overtaking.
- Announce overtaking manoeuvres by shouting.
- Avoid cutting corners.
- Look over your shoulder before changing lanes.
Hand signals
- Both arms pointing to the left or right = left or right turn
- Move both arms up and down at your sides = let them roll – pay special attention!
- Both arms up = Attention! Slow down! Brake if necessary!
- One hand pointing downwards = pothole/manhole cover or similar.
- Arm pointing to the side = participant wants to leave or join the group.
Starting groups and waves
- The classification is based on the best time stated during registration. If you are skating your first marathon, you will start from the last starting group (Group F).
- All skaters deserve a fair race, so please be honest with your information and line up in your designated starting group on race day.
- The starting groups are marked with letters on the bib number and on the start corrals.

Trackingeinstellungen
Participants can only change their tracking settings through their personal user account. The following settings are available in your user account:
Private: You do not want to be tracked. If you select this option, your name will not be shown in the search in the tracking area of the event website or the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2024-App and will only be published in the results list together with your ranking in the race.
Public: Everyone can follow your race via the live results on the event website or in the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON App.
Code: You decide who can follow your race via the live results on the event website or in the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON App. Share your tracking code with your supporters. This code will be requested when searching in the tracking area of the app or on the website.
Timekeeping
Timekeeping is exclusively done with the MIKA TAG. The MIKA TAG is a transponder attached to the back of the bib number. The time is measured as usual by crossing the timing system at the start and finish.
Skaters will receive two copies of their bib number. Both numbers must be clearly visible and attached upright to the outside of the thighs and worn during the race. There is a transponder for timekeeping on the back of each number.
To ensure accurate timing, the TAG/transponder must not be bent.
As this is a “disposable transponder,” there is no need to return it. There is also no rental fee, as the costs are already included in the participation fee.
Results
You can find your result in the results list under Your race > Results. You can also download your certificate there.
Rating:
Inline skating: Skaters are ranked by gun time in the categories “Speed” and ‘Fitness’ (time measured from the starting signal to the finish line). For “Fitness,” the net time is also shown in the results list.
Results corrections:
If you have worn your bib number correctly and still cannot find yourself in the results list or your time is incorrect, get in touch via our contact form.
In your interest, please give us time to check the case carefully. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
Age group winner
According to the WKO/DRIV, age group winners for inline skaters will only be ranked in the “Fitness” category and on the basis of gun time.
The free race entry can only be claimed in the following year. We will send the winners all registration information and an access code automatically by e-mail as soon as the registration is possible.
