BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

With 97 out of a possible 120 points, the BMW BERLIN MARATHON has achieved Gold Level under the international sustainability standard “Athletics for a Better World” set by World Athletics, the global governing body for athletics. This represents an improvement on last year’s Silver status and sends a clear signal that SCC EVENTS’ commitment extends far beyond the finish line.

“When diversity wins, we all win!” — this is the motto of the 14th German Diversity Day on May 19, 2026. At SCC EVENTS, we are equally convinced that diversity is a strength, both in our organization and at our events.

Every year, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON comes to life at the Brandenburg Gate. Thousands of runners complete 42.195 kilometers full of energy through Berlin. But they are not only running on asphalt – they are running through history. Streets and squares tell stories of courage, freedom, and democracy.

This year’s BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will take place on September 27, 2026. Around 60,000 athletes from approximately 160 countries are expected to participate – including runners, wheelchair athletes, handbikers, and skaters. Among the elite runners, world record holder Sabastian Sawe has already confirmed his participation in Berlin.

On the Thursday following the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, a group from the organizer SCC EVENTS came together to get active around the start and finish area once more – this time not for work, but for the environment. In what is known as “plogging,” they combined running with collecting litter, ensuring that even the very last bits of waste were removed after the event.
