Backrounds: On the cancellation of the adidas Runners City Night 2018

The abort of the adidas Runners City Night 2018 due to force majeure is just as frustrating and disappointing for us as the organizers as it is for all concerned.

Throughout the day, the Berlin police, the Berlin fire department and the organizer were already in contact with the German Weather Service (DWD) about weather conditions, which then issued an official weather warning in writing on the evening of the event. In a tight time corridor, the clear and unambiguous recommendation of the police operations management to abort the event. The safety and health of the participants as well as the helpers is always our highest priority and is not negotiable. The race of the skaters could still take place, but had to be shortened for some participants to get them safely from storm and heavy rain to the finish. The time limit of the official weather warning did not allow a time delay of the running starts. For safety reasons, unfortunately, we had no choice when it came to the abort of the event.

All runners or skaters, who were on the spot on Saturday and could not start or could not finish the regular distance at the skating race, have received an email with information. The email informs about the further procedure concerning different points (Registration fee, Chip Return, Chip Rental, Costs for medal engraving.)
