Registration for the 34th BERLIN-MARATHON begins on Friday

At noon tomorrow, Friday, December 15, 2006, registration for the 34th BERLIN-MARATHON, which will take place on September 29/30, 2007, will be opened. With 47,755 registered runners, walkers, wheelchair competitors, hand cyclists, and inline skaters (who had their own separate event on Saturday), the last BERLIN-MARATHON was by far the largest event in Germany for the 42.195 km distance. Starting on Friday, one can either register online or print out and send in the form that is available on the website. The event organiser, SCC-RUNNING, will begin distributing the printed forms soon. The Internet address is: www.berlin-marathon.com

For the past few years, the 40,000 race numbers were sold out weeks before the registration deadline ended in the summer. Those who register quickly will be assured participation in one of the most spectacular road races in the world. The BERLIN-MARATHON is even more attractive because it belongs to the World Marathon Majors (WMM). This series also includes the Boston Marathon (April 16), the Flora London Marathon (April 22), the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon (October 7), and the ING New York City Marathon (November 4). In addition, next year the World Championship marathon races in Osaka (on August 25th for the men and on September 2nd for the women) will be included in the WMM valuation.
